Description
Celastrus orbiculatus, or "Oriental Bittersweet", captured in the autumn rain, just before the yellow husks pop open to reveal yellow berries. Oriental Bittersweet is an invasive plant, not to be confused with the American Bittersweet which is rare enough to be considered endangered. In spite of being a nuisance plant, it is quite attractive with shiny leaves, woody stems, red winter berries, and this brief glimpse of yellow. This photograph has been digitally enhanced to emulate a painting.
