While walking in the woods in New Hampshire, I spotted a pile of stones on the side of the trail. Perhaps the cairn means something to someone, but I can only guess at what.The trail certainly didn't need marking, being nearly a country road. Perhaps it was a distance marker or a commemorative of some sort. Or, perhaps, it's just a lovingly assembled stack of stones.
This photo has been given a painterly treatment to enhance the textures and colors of the stones.
